  • [1] On November 5, 1873 Macdonald resigned and the Governor General invited Mackenzie to form a Government. The Second Ministry assumed office on November 7, 1873.
  • [2] Mackenzie was also Minister of Public Works.

  • [4] Fournier was appointed Minister of Inland Revenue on November 7, 1873; Minister of Justice and Attorney General on July 8, 1874; and Postmaster General on May 19, 1875.
  • [5] Laflamme was appointed Minister of Justice and Attorney General on June 8, 1877.
  • [6] Blake resigned from the ministry on February 13, 1874, but subsequently rejoined it as Minister of Justice and Attorney General on May 19, 1875. He was appointed President of the Privy Council on June 8, 1877­.
  • [7] Scott was appointed Secretary of State of Canada on January 9, 1874.
