Legislation and House Planning
The Legislation and House Planning Secretariat supports the Prime Minister in coordinating and managing the Government's legislative program.
To do this, the secretariat works closely with:
- The Leader of the Government in the House of Commons
- The Minister of State (Democratic Reform)
- The Leader of the Government in the Senate
The secretariat prepares and manages:
- The Government's legislative program in Parliament (both in the House of Commons and the Senate)
- Advice on parliamentary practices, procedures and issues
- Government responses to written parliamentary questions, notices of motion (requesting documents) and petitions (parliamentary returns)
- Advice on electoral legislation
- Policy and legislation relating to democratic and electoral reform
