The Prime Minister is the head of the government and chair of Cabinet. The Prime Minister's main areas of responsibility include:

• providing leadership and direction to the government;
• organizing the Cabinet, including the composition of portfolios and mandates; and
• recommending the appointment of individuals to key positions.
